Everyone can use some music to keep their heart pumping at the gym.

I’ve grown to like going to the gym, a statement I never thought I’d say in my lifetime. On the days when I go, I look forward to getting there, putting on some high-energy jams, and working out. On some occasions, I’ll listen to punk, or alternative, maybe some 90s house music, but for the most part I like to play EDM, pop, dance, and hip hop. I need music that will keep me moving and motivated. Here’s a short list of some of my favorite current gym songs.

1. “yes, and?”
Ariana Grande

I’m loving this new tune from Ariana. Obviously, the beat was sampled from Madonna’s “Vogue”, another song that I come across at the gym from time to time. This song is a good way to start off my gym sessions.

2. “American Has A Problem”
Beyoncé

Booty bouncing beats is what I’ve nicknamed this song. The deep bass and sassy lyrics keep me feeling badass when I’m warming up on the treadmill.

3. “Deep Down (feat. Never Dull)”
Alok, Ella Eyre, and Kenny Dope

4. “Desire”
Calvin Harris and Sam Smith

Calvin Harris has been in the EDM game for a good while. This collab with Sam Smith is perfect for sustaining momentum.

5. “Lose Control”
MEDUZA, Becky Hill, and Goodboys

I’ve been listening to MEDUZA for a little while, even before I became invested in going to the gym. Gotta give it up for my Italian stallions and their driving beats.

6. “Heavy Cross”
Gossip

This song is a departure from the dance and EDM that I usually listen to while working out, but it rules! Bonus points for sounding like the Knight Rider theme song at the beginning.

7. “When I’m Gone”
Alesso and Katy Perry

It’s those EDM songs that help to keep me moving along with my workout, and this one is superb for sustaining my energy level.

8. “Houdini”
Dua Lipa

This newish track from Dua Lipa has been on repeat at the gym, in the car, and at home. I think it’s the lyrics that I like the most, but the beat of the song is perfect for keeping me moving.

9. “Bitch Better Have My Money”
Rihanna

Granted, this is not a fast-paced song, but it’s entertaining and makes me feel powerful when I’m getting close to finishing my workout.

10. “Get Into It (Yuh)”
Doja Cat

I like to play this when I’m wrapping things up. It’s not too fast and it allows for a little bit of a cool down before heading home.
